Autumn Under a Sweater: What Brands Should Consider When Developing Lingerie

Under a thin sweater or a fitted knit dress, lingerie seams, cup edges, and bulky decorative details may become visible. For brands preparing an autumn collection, it is important to check how the styles work with the clothing they will be worn under and how comfortable they remain throughout the day.

Lingerie Under Sweaters and Knitwear

Textured lace may show through lightweight knit fabrics. If the goal is to create lingerie that remains discreet under clothing, smooth cups and flat edge finishes are worth considering.

Molded cups, including those made from spacer fabric — a three-dimensional knitted material — can create a smooth silhouette. However, a smooth cup does not make the entire bra seamless. During fittings, the band, connecting seams, and edges should also be evaluated.

Laser cutting can create thin edges on suitable materials, but it does not automatically eliminate pressure or visible lines under clothing. The result depends on the fabric, construction, and garment size.

A bodysuit can be included in the collection as an additional layer under clothing. During development, it is important to check the torso length, closure placement, and comfort when sitting or raising the arms.

Materials and Comfort When Layering

Softness, breathability, and how a material feels against the skin should be evaluated based on the specific fabric. The fiber name alone does not guarantee comfort.

Modal, cotton, and microfiber can all be considered for the collection, with comparisons based on fabric composition, structure, and finishing. If a supplier describes a material as “bamboo,” the actual fiber composition should be clarified.

The tendency to generate static electricity should also be tested in combination with clothing. Static cannot be attributed solely to the presence of synthetic fibers, nor should it automatically be considered a sign of poor material quality.

Autumn Color Palette

Chocolate brown, terracotta, burgundy, moss green, and cappuccino shades can form the foundation of an autumn color palette. The selection depends on the brand’s concept and how the new styles complement the existing assortment.

If the lingerie is intended to remain invisible under light-colored knitwear, the color should be tested together with the clothing. A saturated shade may show through even when the garment has a smooth surface.

When preparing an autumn lingerie collection with Private Label Latvia, we can start by discussing the styles you want to develop and the conditions in which they will be worn.
